Did you guess it?!?!?  The Kingsley PTO will be building a new... Lunch & Learn Courtyard!

At our Annual PTO Meeting during Kingsley's Curriculum Night we will provide a more detailed look at this project.  For now, here are some exciting details of the project to get you and your student(s) dreaming about outdoor lunches and project time in the fresh air!
  • The project will be located out by the upper grade classrooms and the gym.
  • The area will include: Hardscaped Ground, Steel Roofed Pavilion, Picnic Benches, and a "Living Garden Wall".
  • Timeline:
    • The Kingsley PTO Executive Board and Administration will meet with the district facilities department shortly after school begins.
    • Once the scope of work has been discussed, the PTO will begin to solicit multiple bids for the project.
    • After a company has been chosen and a contract entered into, we will begin work on the project.
    • Our goal is to have the new Kingsley Lunch and Learn Courtyard ready for enjoyment between January and March.
  • Here are example pictures to help build a vision of what the Kingsley Lunch and Learn Courtyard will look like...

We're so exited for how this will enhance our students' school and learning experience and our teachers' instructional environment!  We'll continue to share updates and news on this project as we move forward.

STEP ONE - School Registration

Next Week is Kingsley's Fast Pass Registration - New and Returning Students!

Dates and Time: July 26th and 27th, 9am-11am

Please see the DeKalb Website for information on necessary documents and paperwork for registration.  DeKalb County Registration Information

  • If you are a parent/guardian of a returning Kingsley student you DO NOT have to fill out a DeKalb registration packet.
  • Parents/guardians of retuning students must provide a picture ID and Proof of Residency.

STEP TWO - PTO Registration & Fees

To skip the PTO line at Open House (except for the purchase of spiritwear) - follow the directions below and PRINT OUT and BRING YOUR PAID INVOICE to Open House on August 2nd.  (If you do not bring a print out, you will be routed to the Media Center where you can print out an invoice there.)

We strongly encourage you to pay online, as it will save you significant time waiting in line at Open House.

Kinder Camp For Our Kinder Comets!

While there may not be a campfire and s'mores at this camp - there will still be loads of fun for our youngest students and fantastic information for parents!!!

Kingsley's Kinder Camp is this Thursday, July 27th from 8am-11am.

At camp, you and your student will get to spend time with your new teacher and classmates in a fun filled environment! This opportunity will help make sure that our kindergarteners are ready in all ways for the big first day of school on August 7th!

We're Betting On Kingsley This Derby

Season!

The Second Annual Parent-Led Kingsley Derby is September 29th!  If you're new to the school or if you've forgotten, this event is a super-fun obstacle course race that all students participate in - and it also serves as the Kingsley PTO's big fundraiser.

The Derby Committee has been meeting throughout the summer, and we have some great new prizes and lots of ideas!  We are so excited about this event and raising money for our school and our students.

The Derby Committee is actively seeking corporate and business sponsors for this important fundraiser.

We're going door-to-door so you don't have to!

We need your help finding more sponsors.  There are four levels of sponsorship:  Awesome Asteroid, Magnificent Meteor, Courageous Comet, and Shooting Star.

Do you own a company, know someone who does, or work for a company?   If you want to volunteer your business or if you have contacts in the community, please reach out to the Derby Committee at kingsleyfunrun@gmail.com.

Thank You In Advance!

One of the most important expectations we hold of ourselves as a PTO is to be responsible and respectful stewards of your money.  We make sure that your generous donations are being utilized in ways that make direct and lasting impacts on your student(s) and their educational journey.

Our vision includes short term and long term needs and goals.

We balance and meet these needs by making sure that we:

  • Help support our teachers financially in their classrooms
  • Support our enrichment programs such as; art, music, library, PE, and STEM
  • Help grow and build new programs such as our STEM program
  • Plan and implement community building events and programs throughout the school year
  • Work to improve school facilities when possible to help improve our students' learning environment

Thanks to your generous donations to our Cash-4-Kingsley Annual Fund and through paying your student Activity Fees - we are able to not only meet our needs today, but begin to fund our goals for the future as well.

If each Kingsley family contributes at least $120 to our Cash-4-Kingsley Annual Fund, we will be able to complete at least one of our major capital improvement projects THIS year!

On our list:

  • A New Playground
  • A Lower Grade Lunch and Learn Courtyard (By the Media Center/Carpool Courtyard)
  • Renovate Interior Courtyard
  • Classroom Face Lifts

Donations can be made through the Kingsley Elementary PTO website. A sincere thank you in advance for your generous financial contributions to our school!

* All donations to the Kingsley PTO are tax deductible.

Four!!!  Calling All Golfers!

The All Fore One golf tournament is a unique community event hosted by volunteers from all of the schools that feed into Dunwoody High School.  Proceeds from the event will benefit capital improvements and educational enrichment at Dunwoody High School and Peachtree Charter Middle School in alternating years.

This golf tournament will take place at Dunwoody Country Club on October 2.  Registration is now open, and organizers are soliciting business sponsorships to support the event.  You are encouraged to get involved in this inaugural event.  October is a terrific time of year to play a round of golf, and the scramble format guarantees fun for everyone!
